Choosing the correct magnet for my application

Why Alnico Magnets Outperform Neodymium at High Temperatures: The Industrial Edge

When your operations run hot, you need magnets that don’t sweat under pressure. That’s where Alnico magnets step up—and Neodymium starts to fall behind.

🔧 The Heat Advantage
Alnico magnets, made from aluminum (Al), nickel (Ni), and cobalt (Co), are renowned for their exceptional thermal stability. These magnets can withstand temperatures up to 540°C (1,004°F) without significant loss of magnetic strength. In contrast, Neodymium (NdFeB) magnets begin to lose performance above 80°C (176°F) unless specially treated—and even then, their upper limit rarely exceeds 200–230°C (392–446°F).

🔥 Built for Harsh Environments
Whether it’s inside a furnace, near an engine, or on the factory floor, Alnico’s resistance to demagnetization at high temps makes it the go-to choice for industrial sensors, electric motors, and aerospace equipment.

🛠️ Durability You Can Count On
Neodymium magnets are powerful—but their strength comes with vulnerability. High heat can permanently reduce their magnetism. Alnico, on the other hand, keeps its field strong and stable, making it ideal for demanding, long-term industrial applications.
